Hoi An at night – City of light

Hoi An, beautifulday during the day, amazing at night. When the sun comes down and the night falls, Hoi An ancient town lightens up with thousand coloured lanterns. In order to preserve the ancient character of the town, residents of Hoi An decided to keep up the tradition of lightning lanterns at night.

I have not seen anything more beautiful that those coloured lanterns lighting up the streets of Hoi An. There is something so romantic and peaceful to it. Walking around this city at night is like being in a fairy tail.

One night each month is the ‘lantern festival’ night, when few streets of the ancient city light up in colors while all other electrical light, television sets and radios are turned off. The residents switch off their lights and hang cloth and paper lanterns on their porches and windows. This beautiful tradition has been taking place since 1998 on the 15th day of each lunar month.

Peace and harmony to all of you. Let the light into your heart and do not forget to dream…
